We all do it! We want to share with our pets some of the delicious food we indulge in at Thanksgiving. If you have a dog that tends to beg at the dining room table, stuff a few kongs to give in their crate, bed or on their mat.
Here are a few things that are fine to give, but limit the quantity! Mix it up with their dinner kibble. This way you can stuff more kongs which will also occupy more of their time. Layering is key, put a piece of turkey in the bottom of the kong first. This will encourage your dog to work through the kong to get to the really yummy bit!
White meat is better, be sure to remove any skin or fat
- Cooked carrots or raw (great for their teeth)
- Cooked beans (or raw)
- Cooked Sweet potatoes
- Cooked Squash, pumpkin
- Zucchini
And for dessert mix in a little natural yogurt and add in a little sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Blueberries
- Raw or cooked apple
- Banana
- Dried cranberries
Always best to consult your vet if in doubt what your pet can eat, especially if they have dietary restrictions.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
